Around my house...

The kitchen renovation has been traumatic for Hank. Our house looks like scene from Dexter. It is divided up with sheets of plastic to prevent the dust from spreading. Hank happens to have a phobia of plastic (and bubble wrap, balloons, kittens, bumble bees...you get the picture). He has been hiding out in the bathroom covered in grass stains. We are both ready for this mess to stop.

I got this present in the mail from Kimber at House of Pemberly. It might be my favorite fabric of all time. At one point,  I wanted to wallpaper my entire house in it. That might happen after I win the lottery tomorrow.

I did a little online shopping to get my floral/peplum fix. Now I am ready to move on.

And the best news...
My favorite friend got a PUPPY which basically means I got a puppy because I am going to steal her.

How to Hang Wallpaper Panels

My wallpaper panels arrived from Griffin and Wong this week. Best birthday present/husband ever!
I have been contemplating how I am going to get these suckers on the wall. They are ginourmous.
Option #1: Frame the panels without glass. This is causing all sorts of problems. First of all, it is expensive. I am talking $200+ without the glass. I want a small thin frame and most places will not do it because they say it will warp and recommend a thick/ornate/tacky frame.

The next option is from Little Green Notebook. Jenny used pieces of plexiglass and placed them over the panels with screws. No frame. No damage to the panels. I just worry about funky reflections taking away from the panels.

Another idea from Little Green Notebook for framing panels. Eliza got her panels framed with acrylic for less than $100. I do not know anywhere in Raleigh that does this. For the record, I do not have an obsession with acrylic it just happens to keep popping up when looking for affordable options for framing large pieces.
Camila found an affordable website that will send the frames. I think these look great and they are more traditional than the acrylic. In her tutorial she got the wallpaper to stick with wallpaper paste, something I am trying to avoid.

What is your favorite? I am starting to lean towards the plexi glass...

Ready for Spring

dress/glasses/sunnies/sandals

I am by no means a fashionista. Getting dress is a daily struggle for me. That is why I tend to assume uniforms for every season. A comfy dress, gold sandals, and big sunnies are my go to for spring. Do not forget prescription glasses. I am blind and the cloud of pollen in my contacts is not okay.

Any suggestions of places to get glasses? I am really loving Warby Parker's selection.

Lately...

I have been boring. I honestly would not read my own blog.
Between the kitchen renovation and my real life job (that is being greatly neglected) blogging is just not on the top of my priority list.  By the time I get home my brain feels like jelly. Tonight I got the night off and had time to gather all of my thoughts. They look a little something like this.

Weekend Recap

Another wall is down in our house. Our cabinets and floors come this week and I still have no hardware or lighting. Another project has taken priority over the kitchen for the time being. Also, I am holding out my dream hardware goes into production soon! We are starting to hit some bumps in the remodeling road...

Sunday was quite eventful after a 8+ hour trip to the ER. There was an incident.  Doug vs. the kitchen floor.
The floor won judging by the stitches on his eyelid.

I also bought the wrong size sink and have to make ANOTHER trip to Ikea to return it and find another sink by Monday. Time to get to work.

St. Patty's Day

I am going to be very busy this weekend enjoying the 80 degree weather and drinking some green beer.
Anything to avoid the reality that is actually my life...
My kitchen is now in my living room. Panic attack starts now. Thankfully, I am taking the weekend off while
Doug rips up the floor. I get in the way more than I help.
Peace out!

Dining Room Update

Things are starting to come together with the dining room. The initial plan was to go with faux bamboo chairs. I had previously found these chairs on Craigslist...

I love them so much but we have one major problem. Doug hates them. Actually, he despises them. Being the really wonderful wife I am I told him we could go with the faux bamboo, but the closer we get the more and more I am wishing we had got them reupholstered. For the record, while they look uncomfortable they are really quite comfy.  We will see what happens.

Are you a faux bamboo or modern chrome person?

DEBUT: Hyla Dewitt Cuffs

Things are not okay around here. I literally about fell out of my seat when I saw my friend Hyla's new cuffs.
I cannot decide which one I like the best...

"The Epley" named after moi! She obviously knows me well. Lots of neon!

Which one is your favorite?!?
Not only are they gorgeous, they are affordable! They range from $65-$70.
They are not up on the HD Website yet. If you cannot wait you can send Hyla an email:

Update: Email Hyla and mention the blog for 10% off!!

Cobalt Crush

I have some sort of stomach bug and spent the entire day laying in bed. I have watched 10 Photoshop Element tutorials and browsed the interwebs. Everything I look at just happens to be blue...

Trying to keep things alive...

Not one of my best qualities. I am a sucker for fresh flowers and try to have something that is alive in my house at all times. Unfortunately, things usually die off quickly so I have been sticking with flowers in the backyard. Whoever lived here before us was an amazing gardener left us with all kinds of flowers. We have tons of camellia's.

My new favorite is flowering branches. Cheap, they live forever, and they look amazing in a ginger jar.

I invested in some succulents about a month and a half ago. I do say invest because they were not cheap. I got a pot, rocks, soil, succulents, and moss for around $60. It was totally worth it. I have watered them one time. One time in a month in a half! That is my kind of plant. Also, they multiply.

Weekend Recap

This weekend we went to Charlotte to celebrate one of my BFFs birthdays.
We ended up doing lots of shopping and eating.  Thanks for all of your suggestions on shopping spots. They really came in handy. I plan on blogging this week but we will see how that goes. It has been really low on my priority list lately. Time change= a grumpy/sleepy blogger.

Happy Birthday Mason!

Finally Friday

I have had a busy week and I feel like I am ready to crash.
Instead I am heading to Charlotte to celebrate my weirdest friend's birthday.
Any good shopping spots you suggest while we are there?
