Day #2 of Blah

I am slowly getting use to working on Fridays again. For the first half of the summer I had a wedding every weekend and got very spoiled. As of right now it smells like stinky feet mixed with hay in our office because of some flooding due to the storm last night. All of my friends are going to Charleston to see my favorite band and I am stuck in Raleigh. This being responsible and being on budget is really not working for me. My mom is constantly telling me that I need to "grow up". I have a mortgage and I am getting married but all I want to do is go jump around and listen to bands with sweaty 18 year olds. In happier news, I feel really skinny today probably because we have not been able to eat because it is the end of the month. Payday = fat and happy again.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blah

Today I feel blah and lazy. Here are some pictures that do not make me want to fall asleep when I look at them.

Practice Patience

So I have been talking about updating the guest bedroom for at least 2 months. I finally ordered the fabric for the headboard last night...

Decided on a rug..

New goal is find this cheaper.

After work I spent a good 2 hours trying to pick out paint. I convinced Doug it was time to paint. This is hard to do because Doug would rather watch Real Housewives of New Jersey than paint(that is a big deal). Unfortunatley, right when we were getting ready to start we had a wedding issue(yes, issues and it is a whole year away) and there is not a drop of paint on the wall. Any suggestions on destination weddings? Wish me luck. We are going to try again tonight.

Mountain Weekend

We took a little trip to the mountains for some wedding planning. The 90 degree weather was a nice break from the bazillion degree weather in Raleigh.

So far I have not been excited about the wedding planning. I am not a planner, I cannot make decisions, and I do not enjoy spending lots of money unless it is in J Crew or in the form of a large new SUV. This weekend I experienced what most girls must feel like the whole time they are wedding planning.... EXCITEMENT!

Home Sweet Home

We had a busy weekend and it feels great to be home. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Wedding Planning

Gone to Morganton for a wedding shower then off to Linville for some wedding planning. The only time Doug and I saw our venue it was covered in snow. I found some pictures of our wedding site and am in love. So excited to see it in real life.

Wedding Bands.

Wedding checklist:
Venue- check!
Dress- check!
Photographer-sort of check.

Moving onto bands. This is my top priority. I think the band can make or break your wedding. I do not care how many chandeliers you have in the trees or what kind of fancy dinner you serve...if your band sucks it's a deal breaker.

In a perfect world my boyfriend would sing me love songs. Doug might not like that.

Anyone have a suggestion for wedding bands?

Pretty Fab

Hank is boy, this I know. I also know how much he wishes he was girl. He wants this collar. His birthday is in November if you want to go ahead and get it for him.

Privacy

We have been living in a house for 4+ months without window treatments. Our neighbors are getting to know us a little more quickly than I think any of us would prefer.

Before Privacy:

After Privacy:

I am so excited about my faux wooden blinds that were $30 bucks from Lowes. I really thought I was going to have to sell Hank on Craigslist so I could afford window treatments. He got lucky this time.

Doug putting up blinds. I do not know when it became acceptable to stop wearing a shirt? Is this normal at your house? Please say no. I figured since I do not have his permission to put up his photo I would go Girls Gone Wild on the picture so he cannot sue me.

Hank and I are very helpful when it comes to projects around the house. We like to practice our dance moves while Doug does the manual labor.

Where to?

One of the only things that Doug and I agree on (decor wise) are our love for maps. My love is because I like how they look--pretty and old. Doug legitimately loves maps, surveying land and all kinds weird real estate law things because he is a dork.

{Domino Book of Decorating}

{whoever I stole this from has image from Trisha Brink design...so I'm gonna go with that}

{no clue. sorry. it is old}

Doug and I have a map of our own. We sat in Z Gallerie for 30 minutes and argued while he read every inch of the map. I was trying to explain to him that we have a GPS in the car and it is okay if this map is not entirely correct we do not need it to find our way around.

Say Yes to the Dress...

Yes, it is Saturday night and I am probably the only 25 year old laying on her couch watching TLC but what can I say? We had a long day at Home Depot and Pottery Barn. As most of my friends remember I had had some awful dress shopping experiences. You may remember this story. Traumatizing. The first place I go this man tells me that I am a "grandma nun". He the proceeded to tell me that I have the worst taste in wedding dresses he has ever seen. I am sorry that I am SOUTHERN...and being southern means you end up wearing a conservative lace dress that may or may not have cap sleeves.

While enjoying my TLC this scary face popped up on my screen. I have a love/hate relationship with this man.

It's him.Monte. The reason I went dress shopping one time and stopped after that. Evidently "Say Yes to the Dress" is going to Atlanta and now I am going to have to relive the pain that is Monte every time I turn on the TV. Secretly I am quite excited to watch him make girls cry.
