Sara Ruffin Costello's New Orleans home is one of  my favorites. Everything feels so effortless. I feel like life would be easier with 14 ft. ceilings.
Things of note-
This mantle.

This jumpsuit.

I love this idea of covering your bathroom in tons of art. Such an intimate space calls for intimate objects.

The Real Raleigh

I recently had the pleasure of spending my day with Team Furbish and the very talented Anna Routh
I let them into my very bare house and shared some of my favorite things about Raleigh.
This new series is one of my favorites.

Our Kitchen on Domaine Home

I am feeling a little nostalgic this morning. I am thrilled to be sharing our former kitchen on my favorite home decor site Domaine Home. This was such a special place and we had so many memories.  I am not going to lie, remembering functioning appliances might be what is making me feel weepy.

PSA: New favorite candle

My friend Jessica gave me this Bougie candle as a housewarming gift and I am addicted. I love some expensive candles. No really, if someone offered me a Range Rover or 2,800 $30 candles... I am taking the candles. Little luxuries people. I am always trying new ones and this is the best one I have found in a long, long time.

And it doesn't hurt when you are done you can use it to store things. Who knew q-tips could look so good.
Ever wondered how to clean out your old candles?
1)Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
2) Cover a baking sheet in tin foil.
3) Stick your candle in upside down.
4) Leave in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until the wick drops.
(I highly recommend keeping an eye on it and scooping it out pretty quickly after the wick drops)
5) Let it cool and then wash it out with soapy water.

Instant Gratification: Curb Appeal

We have been in our house for a little over a month now. I feel like we have been doing tons of work, but not really seeing the results. Air conditioners and cutting down trees really have a way of sucking all of the fun out of a new house.

The list of projects for this house is a mile long and it can feel pretty overwhelming. The first thing on my list is working on the curb appeal.  At this point, we just really need some instant gratification.  I have gone back and forth about painting the brick. Our old house was a no brainer. The new house has been a different story. I do not hate the brick at all and there is no going back.

I think we have finally decided we are going to paint it. I am a sucker for a classic black and white house.

Update- New House

Since my last post we have made a major life change. We left our little ranch that we put our blood, sweat and tears into for another fixer upper. I went back through my posts and saw this I wrote back in June.  It was about the house we ended up buying. After I wrote this post, the house went on the market. It sat for a while. In the meantime, we went under contract on two other houses that ended up not working out. This house was always in the back of my head.

There is a lot of good. I am a sucker for a Williamsburg colonial. I see dormers and dentil molding- I melt. It is on a cul-de-sac in a great school district.  Most importantly, it really feels like home to us.
There is a beautiful formal living room and it has old pine floors.

With the good, comes some bad. Like knotty pine walls...

 green carpet...

 original appliances from the 60's.

We have already done so much to make it feel like home. I cannot wait to share our projects with you.

Wallpaper Files: Clarence House 'The Vase'

Clarence House 'The Vase' is an instant statement that can stand the test of time. How would you ever choose a color? I am leaning towards the brown or tan.

Feeling Inspired

One of my favorite wallpapers of all time. It comes in so many insane color ways.
I commissioned a painting with Sally for my 30th birthday that was inspired by the colors in this piece.
The smallest splash of this iconic fabric can change an entire room.
Mahogany Antique Pieces
I have been SLOWLY(really slowly) buying a few good antique pieces that should last a lifetime.

I have visions of a lacquered library.
