Really random...

I just finished Gone Girl. I could not put it down.
Crazy ish. That Amy is one crazy bia.

I have a slight obsession with these glasses. Can they put prescription lenses in fake glasses?
#blindpeopleproblems

I have a soft spot for Jay Z and Kayne. What can I say?
I am from Western North Carolina.

This weirdos birthday is coming up in November. I do not know if yall know the story on Hank.   He is a rescue from Saving Grace. They found him on the side of the road in Johnston County.  Saving Grace currently have a ton of puppies from a local puppy mill raid.
It breaks my heart to watch the video. They always looking for volunteers or donations to help get dogs the medical care they need.

This weekend I plan on...

Told you. Random. Have a good weekend.

Packing for Italy in the fall...

As I have mentioned before, we have a big trip coming up. We are leaving for Italy in a few weeks. We are traveling to Florence, Tuscany and Cinque Terre. While the boys have been ironing out the details, Lindsay and I have been discussing what to wear. Right now is a very interesting time weather wise. Warm days, cold nights and unpredictable rain (I get all my info from Google).  Nothing can ruin a trip faster than losing your bag so we are going to try and pack for 7 nights in one carry on.
A few basics to consider...
A chambray shirt is a must, great for layering.
I will live in J Brand black denim leggings during the day and then you can dress them up at night.
I am only taking one sweater, I am dying to splurge on the Joie Cowl Neck one.
Heath Harrier booties. They are Clark's so they are comfy and chic.
My stylish friend swears by Everlane tees. I am going to get a couple to layer with.
The Downtown Field Jacket is my favorite jacket of all time. I have one in every color.
Madewell storyteller scarf for a pop of color.
My favorite scarf of all time the AA Circle Scarf. It comes in any color you can imagine and can double as a blanket.

I am still on the hunt for a good black dress that I can wear during the day and transition into the night. Do you have any tips or suggestions on things to take?

Weekend Recap

I am back after a very relaxing weekend. My husband went fishing, story of my life. I got to catch up on some reading and cleaning. Found my computer charger. I went to a pretty legit estate sale and fell in love with  a painting.

I cooked dinner for one and made some Mediterranean Quinoa Salad(Thanks Lily)

Pretty Urban Outfitters tapestry.

I went on a hunt to find some shades for some new lamps. I have never been so frustrated in my life. I do not even know where to start, most of the shades cost more than the actual lamps and who really wants to spend their weekend shopping for lamp shades. More about the lamps tomorrow.
Saturday night we celebrated the beautiful bride (in yellow) at the Busy Bee.

Weekend Recap

I had the best of intentions this weekend. It started out rather productive. We tried to pick a color for our bedroom.

I stopped at the Farmer's Market to get some flowers to motivate me to get some chores done.

I found my favorite discontinued candle of all time. I tried to explain to my husband
that this was a big deal but he does not seem to understand why I get so happy when I find a Nest Mahogany candle.

  We had some house guests.

I got to catch up with my best frannnnnnn.
Then things went down hill. This video pretty much sums it up.

Something to try this weekend that will not make you poor...

A little paint can go a long way. Just ask...

If you cannot tell Doug and I are planning on doing some painting this weekend. Our bedroom has not been touched and we are finally going to put some paint on the walls and hopefully the doors.

What are your favorite color combos?

Wallpaper Wednesday: Griffin & Wong

I recently had the pleasure of working with Griffin and Wong to finish up our dining room. I am pretty much in love with the final product. I believe in save where you can, splurge where you want. I do not know how long we are going to be at our current house so wallpapering the entire dining room was not an option. I decided to order a couple panels that I can take with me to our next home. The hand painted panels are truly a work of art.

Our dining room...

Other installations from the G&W website.

The process was super easy with the help of Doug (not my husband). They send you swatches of background colors and you can pick the colors of the flowers you want. The process took a couple of months because the panels are hand painted.

Happenings Around Our Home

A Society Social inspired addition to our bar.

I finally purchased the World's Smallest Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree. The goal is to keep my little baby fetus alive. Easier said than done.

Here are the cheetah pillows that sent my husband over the edge. Men and animal print do not mix.

A happy reunion.

Currently Obsessed: Fall

Fall is by far my favorite season. It is still 90 degrees in NC and probably will be until October, but I am dreaming of big cozy sweaters, tartan, and the fair. If only my Mom would take me back to school shopping.

Fish Art

So you might remember this picture from last weekend. I caught my first fish. One thing you need to know about my husband is he loves him some fish.

We decided to put that sucker on some ice, bring him home and turn him into an...
All you need is some acrylic paint and rice paper.

RIP.
