Dining | Al Fresco

This 70 degree August in North Carolina has me taking full advantage of our screen porch.
One of my favorite things to collect is pretty vintage china. One of my favorite patterns, Blue Willow, is easy to find and really affordable. Instead of splurging on flowers, plant a succulent centerpiece and enjoy it into the fall. I already have rattan chargers, gold flatware and string lights. I am dying to add this ticking stripe placemat to the mix.

Now I just to work on my cooking skills....

  • I cannot stop listening to this song. I made up my own words that include "bougie".
  • Great tutorial for getting the perfect party bun.
  • Furbish is having a summer clearance sale tomorrow. In store only.
  • Also, do not forget to enter the Hyla Dewitt giveaway. Or don't because my chances will be better.

Win stuff

Still trying to get my life together after Las Vegas.
A few things of note-

My little friend is having an Instagram giveaway. You can win all of this!
Follow her at @hdjewelry. I debated telling you because I really want to win.

Everyone should buy this jacket before it sells out.
It is 100% going to sell out.

*The jacket sold out. Looks like you can do a pre-order here.

That time I started a Tumblr...

It is no secret around here that blogging is slower than usual. I do not want to be dramatic, quit blogging and then come back in a few months. I just need some time to figure out how blogging, or if blogging fits into my new routine.

So I started a Tumblr page. It may be a phase. It feels a little more natural. Less words, more pretty pictures. Kind of like an edited Pinterest board. I dig it.

Vegas Packing List | Baulbes and Cocktails

I am leaving for Vegas this Friday. While I am super excited the first thing that crossed my mind was...

WHAT THE HELL AM I GOING TO WEAR?

I was assuming my Mom tunics and J Crew ensembles were not going to cut it.

Immediately, I wrote my friend Kate and Kelley from Baubles and Cocktails. They are my "go to" for fashion advice and happen to be  obsessed with Sin City.

 -------------
Hi!

Kate and Kelley here from Baubles and Cocktails. We are so excited to be guest blogging for Jessie- she’s one of our favorite bloggers. When she asked us to create a packing list for Las Vegas, we were excited and jealous all at once. Las Vegas is one of our favorite places so we apologize if we go overboard! If you have ever seen our blog before you probably know two things about us- we are usually overdressed and we are horrible packers.

We tend to get all decked out when we are in Vegas, but anything goes. Here are some important things to keep in mind...

Las Vegas can be VERY hot... so if you plan to be walking around or hanging outside your best bet is something light and airy or a bathing suit and cover-up. You should also keep in mind that a lot of Vegas pools are fancy- so don’t think twice about piling on all of your baubles- you will look fabulous.

If you are on the strip....It really just makes sense to walk everywhere. So wear comfortable (but cute) shoes and go light with your purse. (Obvi make it big enough for all of your winnings) Inside the casinos it is definitely cool- so maybe throw a scarf in your bag or even a fancy party cardi.

If you are going to the clubs, which you should because it is an experience, just remember go big or go home. Unless you are on a list you are more than likely going to wait in line (depending on the time of year) so you need to werk it. We are talking sequins, LBD, high heels, attitude, you name it.

Last but definitely not least, don’t forget to gamble. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to gamble- pick a low dollar table and play a game like craps- you can play a while without losing that much money. (Plus you get free drinks while gambling) Most of the people working the tables are willing to teach you how to play! Our favorites: craps, roulette, blackjack and SLOT MACHINES (this is where we always win big).

NIGHT: Top, Leather Leggings, Studded Pumps, Clutch, Black and Green Earrings, Sass & Bide Dress, Strappy Sandals, Sequin Dress, Tassel Earrings, Bracelet

Hope we didn’t bore y’all too much, but once we get started on Vegas we can’t stop. We’re glad we got to connect with all of you lovely readers and we would love for you to check out our blog!

XOXO,

Kate and Kelley

Twerk with what you got

I am trying to do a little tweaking to our den. I try my hardest, and trust me it is hard to keep it somewhat gender neutral.  I asked my husband if he would be really sad if I brought in some floral pillows and he said that being upset over floral pillows is so two years ago.  I call that progress people.

Our current situation looks like this. My goal is to add some pops of Peter Dunham's iconic fig leaf fabric and call it a day.

Week Link

via

No blogging for me this week. I have not been writing, but I have been reading.
  • I have rediscovered Pinterest and am a pinning machine this week. Everyone gives Pinterest a bad wrap. No one has their own ideas anymore. Blah, blah, blah. All I know is that after a pinning spree I have no clue what I just saw but I want to go and create something pretty.
  •  Again, chintz is cool. Mark D. Sikes speaks my truth.
  • Beards are on the outs? Say it is not so.
  • Taylor seriously cracks my ass up. You should follow her. She says what you are thinking.
  • J Crew pre- fall. Yes, please.
