Designer Crush: Suellen Gregory

I have decided to start a new series to highlight some of my favorite designers and architects.
Thanks to Pinterest, we rarely click to figure out where the pretty picture comes from.

Suellen Gregory is an interior designer based out of Richmond, Virginia. Her timeless designs are pretty much what my adult house dreams are made of.

This is one of my favorite entry ways of all time.

This image has made it's way around Pinterest as one of the most coveted laundry rooms.

Nothing more Southern than a chintzy bedroom with pretty monograms.

Currently Obsessed: For Your Home

La Cornue Stove | This highly coveted stove makes my heart pitter patter every time I see it. The price tag does the same. Does anyone actually own one? I would love to hear the good/bad.

Toile Bedding | The crazy granny in me loves a good toile. The only thing that could make this bedding better is a matching wallpaper.

Easy Change Wallpaper | Speaking of toile, this Easy Change Wallpaper courtesy of Sherwin Williams is an affordable must! Great for the fickle decorator. You can spot it in one of my favorite home tours.

Diptyque Baies | Over the holidays Diptyque was having a special and I purchased a few baby candles. I mean what kind of blogger would I be without a Diptyque? I get the hype.  My favorites are the Baies and the Feu De Bois.

Country Pendant | My farmhouse obsession continues. These pendants are the best thing I have seen in a long time.

Floral Pillow | My favorite fabric of all time. I have them in my house and they never get old. Furbish is now selling them on the website.

Around Our House...

This weekend was spent cleaning and trying to finish our bathrooms. I am still missing some hardware, a shower curtain and mirror frame. Projects in the Short house tend to take a little extra time.

Friday Five

Happy Friday weirdos. In no particular order, five things that struck my fancy this week.

If I am going to take life advice from anyone, it is going to be Jenna Lyons.

This happened to strike a cord with me this week. Should I get bangs? made me laugh out loud because it pretty much describes what happens in my head. Growing them out, not so much.

Last night I hung out with my very fashionable best friend and I could not stop smelling her. In a good way, like I wanted to bathe in whatever she was wearing.
She said it was the new MK and Ashley fragrance Nirvana.
(if you are scared to commit they have roller balls for $22.)

I made my first spring purchase this week for an upcoming baby shower.
I hope it looks cute in person. Asos is always hit or miss for me.

Martha Stewart for Home Depot

During the bathroom makeover I did a ton of research on bathroom lighting. We were doing our best to avoid hiring an electrician to save a little money, which meant we were going to have to stick with overhead vanity lights. We do not have any cans and it was our only source of light in our bathrooms. The good looking lights were proving to not be as functional as I would like. We ended up going with the Seal Harbor Vanity Light and I like it better than the lights we splurged on. Martha is killing it at Home Depot. I have used her hardware and vanities on some projects.

I am dying over this kitchen I ran across on Martha Stewart Living. The paint colors are from her Home Depot Collection, Flagstone and Bedford Gray. This is starting to sound like a sponsored ad. I assure you no one pays me to write anything, if you want to I will gladly accept.

Santa Barbara New Home | Tim Barber Architecture

I feel all sorts of ways about this house. I am a huge sucker for  dormers and inset cabinets. This Santa Barbara house, designed by Tim Barber Ltd, takes the cake. A source states the exterior is painted Benjamin Moore's Swiss Coffee.

Inset cabinets with furniture details can make a kitchen.
For someone who does not do beige well, I could really get on board with this clean slate.

Even the laundry room has inset cabinets.

Tiling the walls makes a huge difference in the bathrooms. Most people stop in the shower due to cost. It is a great way to get more bang for your buck.
Again, dormers are a game changer. So many nooks.

Lou + Gray | Lounge

Saturday afternoon I spent the better part of the day exploring the mall. Usually, this would be my idea of hell but after being stuck in my house for almost a week I was looking for any excuse to get out. I had seen some blog posts about Ann Taylor Loft  and decided to check it out. I was immediately  smitten with the new lounge collection, Lou & Gray. Think cozy sweat shirts and lounge pants that are cute enough to wear out of the house. I have been living in these pants since I brought them home. Select styles are currently 50% off with the coupon code PRESDAY.

Weekend Reading | Book Club

I just started this one. So far, it has just made me really annoyed with my husband. You know when you wake up from a dream where you spouse has cheated and you are still mad. That kind of crazy.

Alexa, Alexa, Alexa. Where do I start? I love Alex Chung. While I am dying to know how she puts on her mascara and eyeliner, it really left me wanting more. The print is the size of an R. L Stine Goosebump classic. It took literally less than an hour to finish the entire book and I felt dumb after. It looks pretty on my bedside table.

Crazy Rich Asians | Kevin Kwan
Hands down my favorite of the three. I could not put this book down. It is like Real Housewives, with actual rich people.

Read anything good lately?

Snow Week

This week has been a real doozy. I came home from work last Friday and was feeling under the weather. Before I knew it I had been asleep 3 days straight.

As soon as I was getting back to normal. The snow storm of all snow storms hits. Raleigh, North Carolina shuts the shit down when it snows. There are really no words.  I was lucky enough to make it home before the snow started.

Half of my friends were stuck in traffic turning 20  minute commutes into a 3 hour nightmare.

Again, we are trapped in the house for 2 days. You think we would have finished our bathrooms. Nope. I will hopefully finish things up this weekend and have something worth sharing on Monday.

Needless to say, I am going a little kooky and looking forward to getting out of this house.

JCP

Last night on my way home I stopped in JC Penney to check out this Jonathan Adler Agate Box. I am not going to lie. I have talked a lot of ish about JCP in the past. I do not trust anywhere that you can buy a sofa, have your Christmas card made and get a hair cut. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised.
Once I got in the store and realized everything, seriously EVERYTHING is on crazy sale, I decided to browse the bathroom section. Maybe I am really late to the bathroom game, but it is so hard to find things like shower curtains and trashcans. They had a gorgeous selection of pretty pastel accessories. They remind me a lot of the Hue dinnerware collection from C&B.
Who knew? JCP is not so bad after all! I still would not get my hair cut there.

Bunny Williams for Dash and Albert

Bunny Williams has joined forces with Dash and Albert. A collaboration not to be missed. Set to ship in April, these are the perfect indoor/outdoor rugs if you ask me. My absolute favorite is the classic stripe, followed by the most perfect plaids I have ever seen.
