Heat Update

Best news of the century---

Our heat was not broken.

This is fantastic news because we would not be keeping our resolution this year.
Replacing heaters= no fun.
Painting your ugly brick=fun.
On to New Years (house) resolutions...
I love painted brick houses. Back before I was a home owner, my delusional self thought we would paint the brick the week after we moved it. I mean, it is not expensive or anything. I also thought I would walk in and redo the kitchen and bathrooms. I quickly got a reality check.  My non delusional self still has non painted brick 2 1/2 years later. What are you opinions on painting the brick? Is it worth the upkeep?

In other news, there is going to be some spotty posting on the blog for the next 6 weeks.
I signed up for a real estate class and I currently leave my house at 7:30am and get home at 10pm. For someone that is usually asleep by 9 this is huge adjustment. Let's not mention the fact that there is no break for dinner. These people obviously have no idea how hungry I can get.

Promise you will still be my friend? I promise to make a better effort at blogging once the class is over.

  1. I say paint your brick. There is nothing I love more than white painted brick, black shutters and pretty trimmed boxwoods. And good luck with your class, I'll still be here!

  3. When we moved into the historic home we just bought (uh in November), the FIRST thing we had to do was completely replace the heating. But I can say there's nothing I appreciate more than a cozy house now.

  4. I'm 50/50 on the painted brick. It's a sucky upkeep once you do it you can never go back. But, I'm pretty obsessed with a pretty painted brick house. Okay. Just switched my vote, PAINT IT!!!

And good luck sitting through your Real Estate class. If it's anything like mine were in South Carolina it will be the biggest time suck of your life. Every person there will where shitty sweat pants and want smoke breaks. Oh, and they're all super successful yet dumb as crap at the same time. Like they've never raised their hands in class before and can't wait to practice their american right to ask dumb questions.

But hopefully you can pass time quickly on your iphone and then make some moolah to hire painters :)

  6. I vote paint it! And good luck with your real estate class. I'm currently juggling a little post-grad education (and wedding planning) myself and let me tell you...it's exhausting!

  7. definitely paint it. it won't hurt the resale value in your area one bit, plus you'll enjoy looking at the outside of your house as well as the inside.

good luck with the real estate class. i guess you are ready to make a career change? i feel ya. i wish there was something else i could do closer to home and still make real money. le sigh.

  8. Paint the brick!! White brick homes are gorgeous. Paint your front door a fun color, too! It'll be worth it. Good luck on your class. I've heard horror stories about how tough the real estate classes are now...

  14. I'm a real estate agent and I love it, clients aren't always the easiest but it's still a fun job with great flexibility- not sure if you're making a career change or not but just had to add my two cents.
I LOVE painted brick but I can imagine the upkeep is hard- I like the color brick you have though, it isn't that too orange red brick.

  15. Oh my thank goodness the heat wasn't broken! That was our wedding gift to ourselves. A new AC/Heat unit. FUN FUN. I vote PAINT!!! I'm debating ours, myself. It's a long shot because we have a huge list of things we need to tackle first, but I bet it would be so cute in a color or in white! I love a white brick house!
Good luck with real estate class!
