What's The Deal? Asos

Let's talk about Asos...
Bloggers love it, non-bloggers not so much.
I was talking to one of my good friends and she said she just cannot get down with it.
The website itself can be overwhelming and the thought of ordering outside of the U.S. feels sketchy.
If you can get through the millions of Forever 21esque sheer, cut out, high low dresses they have some pretty cute stuff that is really affordable. Not to mention, shipping and returns are free. I usually search
smock, swing or shift dress and get straight to the point.

Any other tricks for sorting through the never-ending pages of junk?

  1. I may have just ordered wrong, but the three dresses I ordered from ASOS all fit terribly. The one that I actually kept has shrunk and faded, and is made pretty cheaply. The dresses you highlighted here are very cute though. I think it's like TJ Maxx or Marshall's; you wade past miles and miles of no until luck brings you the occasional gem.

    1. I stick to the same type of dress every time. I have had really good luck. They are nothing to write home about for $20-$30 I have been pleased.

  2. Loving that tie dye dress. I haven't ever ordered anything from ASOS because I'm always paranoid about how its going to fit and even though returns are free, I always get bummed when I order something and it doesn't fit!

  3. Do you think the dresses are good quality - or are you getting what you pay for?

    1. I pretty much order the same dresses every time and I think they are just a notch above Forever 21. You are not probably going to keep them for more than a season.

  4. I like the ASOS brand stuff well enough, but I often control for shape of dress or brand name. For example, Oasis and Whistles and Warehouse are three "high street" brands (not designers but not Forever 21 - think French Connection & etc) that aren't in the States, which you can buy through ASOS, and whose clothes are generally a bit better quality (cut and material) than the regular ASOS stuff. Also, speaking from the larger end of the "straight-sizes", their "plus size" models are pretty much all regular sized women so sometimes - when the "plus" and "straight" clothing lines overlap - you can actually see what the dress will look like if you have some more curves than the "straight-size" models. I really, really like that.

I dunno, I use the site a lot. Also, if your express shipment arrives late, my experience is that they refund the shipping with very little fuss.

  5. I've found it just depends on what brand the item is from. The clothes I've bought have been comparable to Zara. However, many of the clothes you can also find at TopShop if you do live near one.
