Comfy

While some people just luuuuvah 70 degree weather in January...my sinuses cannot handle it. I am suppose to go to the mountains this weekend if my health will permit it.  I decided since I do not feel like getting out of bed I could plan what I would pack using Polyvore.

Comfy

Overdosing on Nyquil and hopefully I will be back to normal tomorrow.

Dining Room Makeover: Update

My New Year's Resolution was to complete some projects around our house. After trying to pull all of my thoughts together I felt like my head was spinning. We have so many projects going on I cannot stay focused on one long enough to make any progress.  I was lucky enough to get some much needed help from Jamie, you know, The Jamie from isuwannee. We sat down and in one hour we had made a clear plan. We were able to repurpose and prioritize. Honestly, I think most people in my situation are just too intimidated to get some help. You have no budget, you buy the majority of your furniture on Craigslist and your house may happen to smell like two huge wet dogs. You read blogs and home decor magazines but nothing really seems attainable. Sound familiar? I walked away from my session with Jamie and  felt really excited compared to my normal overwhelmed, I quit, FML.

The Plan:
I have slowly been buying things on Craigslist over the past year. I was able to find a table, chairs, and chandelier. I found this rug on Rugs USA(they always have sales and coupon codes).

I am saved up for wallpaper panels from Griffin and Wong.
Jamie gave me the idea for adding grass cloth wallpaper and painting the ceiling. It will add some texture and won't break the bank.

Coffee Table Books

A few must haves...

Weekend Snippets

Doug and I woke up early Saturday morning to hit up some estate sales. We are starting our kitchen renovation in the next couple weeks and I suggested getting used appliances to help keep the cost down.
We had no luck in the appliance department but I could not walk away empty handed.

I found a lamp for my future desk. The brass and marble reminded me of my favorite lamp ever...

I finally started my ginger jar collection.

I found the most amazing monogrammed china. Unfortunately, it was not my monogram.

Friday night we met some friends at The Pit.
Saturday night we had a much needed Girls Night at Humble Pie.

Pinterest Problems.

I have somehow managed to spend the better part of the day on Pinterest
A few things of note...
I need to learn how to paint.
Tibi, what's up with this dress? When can I get it?

Friday Obsessions

Urban Outfitters Print: Fun cheap print.
BHLDN Place Cards: Obsessed with the stripes. Remove the name tag and use them over and over + they are on sale.
Luluemon: Have yall been to the new store in North Hills? It is crazy expensive. I could only afford a sports bra. Going in there with all of the cute work out clothes and  yogis finally made me feel bad enough about myself that I have been to the gym everyday this week. You gotta find motivation somewhere.
La Mer Watches: I love all of the La Mer watches and they are affordable.
Firefly Fabric: I freaked out when I saw this fabric for less than $30 over on The Pursuit of Style.

Iphone Dump

Story of my life in Iphone pictures...
Hunger Games/ Studio 123 umbrella holder

On Saturday, my friend Garison and I went on a mission to find a console for her television. We stopped at Studio 123, one of my favorite stores in Raleigh. I ended up getting the most beautiful umbrella holder. The ladies there are awesome. They even have me the branches and I was able to spread them out over my entire house.

New Raleigh Flea Market  find. 15 dollars. Holler.

House Resolution: Dining Room

Dining Room inspiration.

The dining room is the first room we are tackling, along with the kitchen in 2012. The wallpaper panels are Griffin and Wong. I am still debating on what color to cover the chairs with. Unfortunately in the kitchen renovation we are going to lose the wall with the china cabinet which is going to leave me with even less storage than before. More resolutions tomorrow.

Make sure to enter the JoJo Loves You giveaway!

House Resolutions.

Last year I set some house goals. Knowing that I  was planning a wedding I kept the expectations pretty low. A gallery wall here, a curtain there. Nothing too serious. I decided to see how well I kept my goals.

Living Room: I got the frames for a gallery wall. Still in the process of gathering art.

I got curtains. Oh, what a difference a few panels make.

Dining Room: I ended up getting a new chandy, that I am totally in love with. I got new dining room chairs and got rid of our pub table. Thank goodness. There is way too much faux bamboo going on with the chairs and the table. Time to start looking for a table on CL.  I am in the process of working on the wallpaper thing.
I am going to do my House resolutions for this year tomorrow. Anyone else have fun house projects they tackled this year?

Sunday Shopping

For the people who are terrified of neon (not me) here is your solution.

This blazer from Asos is perfect. The skirt is not doing it for me, too Adidas sweat suit circa 1990.

We are going to do some research on kitchen stuff. Tiles, counter tops, and cabinets mainly. Does anyone have suggestions of places to go in Raleigh?

Wedding Attire: For Your Girls

My friend Hyla's wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty yesterday. I am in love with this picture of the "collection" she made for all of her bridesmaids. Talk about a gift your girls can actually wear again.
Congrats Hyla + Bradley! Check out their feature on SMP to see more pictures of her stunning wedding.

Cannot Get Enough

Cobalt blue: Might be my favorite color of all time. I have more blue in my wardrobe than any other color. I have decided to incorporate it into my house in the form of ginger jars.

And I'm Back...

with the longest blog post ever. Obviously, you can tell I have missed blog world.

Thanks to the new year I have been super motivated to get my life together. I am still working on purging my house of crap. Not an easy task.

I decided to take a break from my psychotic cleaning spree to focus on ME. Selfish? Maybe. Vain? Uh duh. I went on a shopping spree focused on making me feel better about myself. After binge eating/drinking for the past month I needed a little boost in my confidence. Some things were old favorites and others were new finds that I have always wanted to try.  There is nothing like buying more junk to replace the stuff I am throwing away.

Jo Malone Cologne: This is one of my new favorites. I have always wanted to try Jo Malone. I got this Cologne Collection for Christmas and I am OBSESSED. The set it made to mix. I am a huge fan of the Wild Bluebell, Pomegranate Noir, and the Vanilla and Anise. I love to mix them together and get different smells.
Visual Truth Eye Creme: This is an old standby. I have used this eye cream for as long as I can remember. It is thick but not greasy.
Tarte Eyebrow Pencil: Eyebrow can make or break your face. I am not sold on Tarte. I am sure there are less expensive ones that get the job done. I was just lazy and decided to get it while I was at Sephora.  Throw some clear mascara on your brows from the drugstore and you should be good to go. Even when I do not have enough time to do makeup I always fix my brows.
Cuticle Care Pencil: This is my first time purchasing a cuticle pen or cuticle oil for that matter. During the winter my hands get super dry and I always pick at my cuticles( nervous, weird habit). I have been using this at night before I go to bed and randomly during the day. I can tell a huge difference.
Clarins Self Tanner: Another new fave. I have never done the self tanner thing. I think that people should be pale during the winter. For some weird reason my neck is like 10 shades lighter than my face. I dig this stuff because it does not streak, it does not smell too bad, and it makes you a golden color instead of orange.
Oribe Supershine: Seriously, this is the best hair product I have ever had. It calms the frizz and static without the greasy, heavy feeling.
Blotting Papers: I have super oily skin and by 2 o'clock my face looks like an oil spill. I keep these in my purse to tame grossness that is my face. TMI.

Happenings

A lot has been going on around these parts, hence the lack of blog posts.
My friends threw me a birthday party. There were lots of sequins in my honor.

Jimmy and Gary hosted my birthday party.

We ended up having my annual couples shoot. Can you say Christmas card 2012?

I have really pretty friends.

Then we went to my parents for Christmas. Everyone looks like they may have had one too many cocktails at Christmas Eve. Lots of lazy eyes going on.

For NYE we went to DC to surprise one of my favorite friends. Her birthday happens to be on New Years Eve and I do not think I have ever got to celebrate her birthday. A huge group of our friends surprised her. I would say it worked...

Best. Surprised. Face. Ever.

I was having too much fun to take pictures but some of my friends have good recaps.

No serious resolutions this year.
Be nice, work hard.
Declutter.
Travel more.
Worry less.
Practice my cooking skills.
