Entryway Makeover + Dresser Reveal

Welcome back! I had a super relaxing weekend with my family. I came back to Raleigh and had one of most productive days of my adult life. I knocked out TWO projects on Saturday (with the help of my husband).

Five months later...

Bam.

Project #2-
I am over do it yourselfing anything. Sand, prime, sand, prime...
I thought at this point in my life I would be able to pay someone. Not the case.

I was able to finish this piece in probably 4 hours. The priming, sanding, waiting, painting can take days. Honestly, I did not sand at all.

I have found that the Rustoleum Professional spray paint is by far the BEST! I feel like I have tried everything. Spray paint goes on smoother and it is less time consuming.  The trick is you need to get the good stuff. This stuff is kind of pricey- around $6. It took about 2 cans of primer and 3 of the paint to cover the dresser. My other obsession is the Comfort Grip. All in all, if you are lazy this is the way to go. It is quick and looks decent.

**i do realize this looks like a product plug. no one pays me anything. i truly believe buying expensive rustoleum will save you lots of time. **

Also, I spruced up the blog. I added some new blogs to the blog roll and added a page for our home tour.

  2. I hear ya loud and clear on the furniture diy thing. I'm almost 31. I'm married with kids. Surely I could pay someone else to paint a table for me. Or maybe just buy a table that already comes in the color I want. Like, new. I think that's the word. New. That's not used in our house very often to describe furniture. But, I LOVE what you've done of course. The entry looks fab and your new dresser is balls to the walls cool.

    1. We went in Celedon in Charleston and I was thinking what it would be like to walk in a store and buy a new piece of furniture. I just cannot imagine. I have to dig through dead people's stuff at estate sales or go scary places on Craigslist. One day...a girl can dream. ha.

  3. Seriously I believe in throwing money at a DIY so someone else can do it ;) the dresser looks fantastic though and I adore the ginger pot in the entryway!

  4. love the skirted table. did you make that yourself? that is impressive. i loved your yellow garden stools though. are they packed away or are you using them elsewhere?

also, did you use Fabri Tac to attach the ribbon trim to the cornices in your bedroom? i want an easy, no sew way to add ribbon to some cheap drapes.

  5. Love the rug in your entry. I just found the same temple jar at a thrift store in my parent's tiny town and I love it. Such a great size for moving all around the house when you get bored and need to primp. Looks great!

  8. I hear you on the DIY stuff. Just did a paint job recently and wanted to die. Except I did hand paint instead of spraypaint -- dumb. Love the brick wall by the dresser though -- what room is that?
