Organizing Jewelry

I need your help. I am in the process of organizing our bedroom. While cleaning, I noticed I have tons of jewelry that I never wear mainly, because I can never find anything. In a perfect world I would have a huge walk in closet where I could organize everything. Back to reality, my necklaces are on door knobs and there is junk everywhere.

My current situation looks a lot like this. Lots of do-dads in small Anthropologie bowls. This picture makes it look super organized and great. Not the case. I have like 10 bowls and nothing is organized and it looks like a hot mess.

I wish things were looking more like this. I am all for displaying a few fun baubles. No one wants to see every piece of jewelry you own. Things start to look messy.

So this is where you come in. I need a jewelry armoire. I feel like these are so JC Penny's circa 2002. It is really hard to find something not atrocious. I am trying to keep an open mind and think I can change the hardware, but this is no easy task. So amazing bloggers where can I find a jewelry box?

  1. i have this same dilemma. my shish is everywhere. i have a small jewelry box on my dresser but it is as you put it "atrocious". i keep saying i'm going to paint and change the hardware and i still haven't done it. i like the idea of having it in a dresser drawer but with those organizer thingys. perhaps a trip to the container store?

  2. HAHAHA I love that you said jewelry armoires are so JC Penney circa 2002. I picture the exact same thing. I think putting them in cute colorful bowls is great! I also got a few neck forms from a jewelry wholesale place that are fun to display my statement necklaces on.

  5. Ahhh I feel the same way about jewelry amoires. I use my IKEA rast nightstand and put jewelry dividers stacked inside that I found at TJ Maxx. My necklaces are hung on four prong hooks in my closet on the wall. It's been the best system I've had so far. Really easy to get ready in the mornings.

  6. Totally agree...the jewelry armoires can definitely look so dated! I have been on the hunt for a cute way to display my jewelry...currently I have a couple Anthro bowls with baubles in them and I just found a ceramic bust that i started displaying all my necklaces on!

This one from potterybarn is pricey but you could duplicate (http://www.potterybarn.com/products/shelby-accessory-tower-dresser/?pkey=cjewelry-boxes-accessories)

  7. Oh that jewelry armoire is amazing! Pottery Barn has some great jewelry boxes, and I remember that West Elm once had a similar armoire (for the bathroom but it would do the job). Check Ikea ;)

  10. The bowls in the drawer are super cute!! If you have drawer space- what about getting lucite containers in all sizes and fitting them (like tetris) so it fits all your jewelry?

  12. I have this jewelry box from pottery barn that I absolutely love. It's simple and pretty, and it houses all of my jewelry well. Granted, it's not quite as big as an armoire, but I think it looks sleeker. Also, chunky necklaces and bracelets don't fit perfectly, so I put them on hooks in my closet.

Hope this helped! It's just another option to consider :)
