Considering...

I am officially over my gallery wall. I have tried and it just will not come together. I have very little patience in the matter.

I am starting to consider calling it quits and replacing it with a huge print from Cozamia.

What are your thoughts? Do yo have a gallery wall? What is the secret?

  2. I think that it might be your mirror that's throwing things off? I'm def not an expert, but I think if you maybe stuck to rectangular things it might be a bit easier to work with. And if you're going to give it another go, I'd try putting the pieces closer together so that they visually group together rather than look like a bunch of individual things on your wall. I have one in my house and I played around with my frames on the floor in front of the spot I wanted to hang them to get an arrangement I liked and then I traced each frame onto newspaper, hung those on the wall before putting the frames up. Having said all that, I love the colours in the print you chose! So maybe I'm not so much help afterall ;)

  4. I love the look of the one big piece. Gallery walls are really difficult, I think the best way to do it is to plan it on the floor so you can mess around with the layout until you love it, and then do the hanging. For me, the best ones are the ones that come together organically.

  5. I think the new look would be more sophisticated! You should do it!

  6. My two cents? I think it's really hard to mix curves and straight lines in a gallery wall. I'd put that beautiful mirror somewhere it can be the star rather than a piece in the gallery wall puzzle. I'd either group the rectangular art closer together or else I really like the one big piece too! I really like how the big piece pulls in the colors of your throw pillows :)

  9. I just did a gallery wall myself and you are right, they can be a challenge. But with your stripped walls, I'm really loving the one big piece of art. It gives a great anchor to the sofa.

  10. Gallery walls need a blank canvas to reside on. Try moving it to a un-striped wall.

  11. I love the single art. I think you might like that chainge

  12. Well I guess you can't go wrong with cozamia. I think that probably the stripes are fighting against the gallery frames? I'm not an expert, that's just my opinion ;)

  13. A few people already mentioned it, but I think the mirror is what's making the gallery wall seem wonky. The mirror is really great, but the curves and straight lines are at war. I have a gallery wall in my hallway and it's come together pretty easy, and the only thing I am super strict about is always using the same black frame with a white matte. I think a gallery wall needs at least one element of cohesion unless you are a super fab interior designer who can make a whole mish mash look good. So, stick with a common theme whether it be the same frame, similar color scheme, similar theme with the photos, etc.

  15. I don't have much advice because my gallery walls are super simple (http://glitterandgoatcheese.com/2012/02/03/bless-my-husbands-hanging-skills/), BUT -- is that the Nicole Cohen Shower Print #2 in the upper-right?! I am SO JEALOUS.

  16. Like some of the other opinions.....I love the stripes, the mirror etc. but they are competing against each other. I am also trying to put a gallery wall together with a mix of art and frames. I find it a bit challenging but fun at the same time. Let's see what the final product looks like.

  17. i am the biggest art wall proponent out there, but in this case, i do think the one large piece looks best. or 2 large more vertical prints would also look nice. if you decide to sell the mirror, it has a home at casa de santana.
