Party Time

I did not have time to write a post about our reception last night. We have a big weekend planned and I was getting ready for the festivities. All of my girlfriends from college are coming in town. I am going to my first football game of the season. We are expecting a huge drop in temperatures so it is looking like it is going to be a perfect fall weekend.

Wedding week will resume on Tuesday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Wedding Week {Details}

Flowers: We used small arrangements that were different sizes mixed on the tables.

Ceremony flowers: Ranunculus, peonies, hydrangeas, and tulips.

Doug and I had dinner ALONE in a little boat house. One of my favorite moments was
looking up at our reception and taking everything in.

Table setting for our couples table. I ended up buying all the table runners from another bride that was featured on Style Me Pretty

I love rings shots. Nancy used the confetti that our guests threw for a detailed shot.

We had two specialty drinks during our cocktail hour. Both included sprinkles...

Fun straws are from Etsy.

One more day left... you know you don't want to miss the party.

Wedding Week {Ceremony}

And now to my favorite pictures... the ceremony.
Our ceremony was magical and perfect. My mom and dad walked me down the isle. The ceremony took place in front of a  gorgeous tree with Grandfather Mountain in the background.  There was an acoustic bluegrass trio and 175 of our closest friends and family were there to watch. It was the happiest I have ever been.

Anyone who knows me in real life will tell you I have a slight obsession with confetti. I do not know what it is--- it makes you smile. We ended up renting confetti cannons to shoot after the ceremony.  We also gave our guests little bags of confetti that said "shower the bride and groom with love".

Are you tired of talking about weddings yet? Are you tired of looking at pictures of me yet? I kind of am. That is why I am going to do some wedding details tomorrow.

Wedding Week {Getting Ready}

All of the bridesmaids got ready in a pool house at our venue.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my bridesmaids getting ready.

The girl wore J Crew silk taffeta dresses in different styles and carried mini boquets of hot pink garden roses.
Evidently, while we were getting ready at the pool house the boys were locked in a side closet at the venue.

The biggest argument of the entire wedding process was the groomsmen attire. I am a sucker for a cummerbund and bow tie. Doug flat out refused. He said it was not him and he was not wearing it for his wedding. You cannot really argue with that. The guys went with rented suits from Jos A. Bank and light pink ties.

There were no MAJOR Bridezilla moments before the wedding. Their was a slight freak out when the florist shows up with my bouquet. I had requested pink peonies. The day of she ran out and stuffed the thing with spider mums, major "no no".  After I told her that I was not a fan,  she kind of pitched a fit and decided that she was not going to set up the flowers. Thank goodness for our amazing planners. We hired Jamie and Stephanie with Viva L' Event and they saved the day. They did everything! Seriously everything-- set up the venue, ran and got us an ironing board and even drove Doug and I home from the reception. The best thing I did was hire them.  They even offer month before and weekend of planning so it can fit into any budget.

Wedding Week {Bridal Portraits}

Bridal portraits are part of a southern tradition.
I know a lot of people choose to forgo the portrait. It is an extra expense and who really wants a huge picture of yourself? Personally, I am really glad that I did it. For one, it gives you a chance to practice your hair and makeup before the big day. Also, on the day of your wedding there is no time! I was ready to get the party started and did not want to spend a lot of time taking photos.

If you are anything like me choosing a wedding photographer was the most difficult decision. There are so many amazing photographers in North Carolina. Lucky for me--I got to have two different photographers. I used Kristin Byrum Photography for the bridal and Nancy Ray Photography for the wedding.

Some of my other favorite photographers in NC:
Abigail Seymour
Cyn Kain Photography

LOCATION:
I decided to do my portraits at the The Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC. I mean seriously, those floors and the chandeliers.  This would be an AMAZING location for a wedding.

I also chose the location because it had indoor and outdoor options to take pictures.

DETAILS:
My dress was the Tamara by Monqiue Lhuillier.

The veil was by Cheryl King Couture

Shoes were Charm by Kate Spade.

I got my bouquet of pink peonies from The Bloom Room in Charlotte.

I loved my bridals and I loved getting to work with Kristin and her husband Aaron.  No, I do not have a life size picture of myself hanging in my house (even putting the pictures on here seems a little vain) but I think one day it will be nice to look back have pictures.

So what do yall think? Would you do bridals or use the money towards something else for the wedding?

See you tomorrow for more of Wedding Week!

Weekend Recap

Where did the weekend go? Since we have been out of town for the past month we had a lot of catching up to do. We spent Friday night at the Container Store (my favorite place in the world). Saturday we got up at the butt crack of dawn and went to the Farmer's Market.

While all of my friends were partying and going to see Widespread Panic, I stayed at home to help Doug with yard work.  After seeing a snake AND a black widow I decided to stick to indoor activities, which ended up being a nap.

Sunday I think Doug could sense I needed to get out of the house so he took me to brunch at Nofo. I ended up finding my favorite candle in their gift shop. I highly suggest this candle. It smells like a boy/man+a hippy+ some wood+vanilla. It smells so good, I can smell it even when it is not burning. I usually get mine at Furbish but it think they are out of season.

Now we are all pooped and not looking forward to Monday.

Cheers to the Weekend

I do not know about you but I am ready for the weekend. This has been the longest work week ever.
Next week I plan on having wedding week. It has been 4 months since our wedding and I realized I have not shared photos. Luckily, after next week you will never have to hear me talk about my wedding ever again.
Peace out.

Confession

I have an issue with Pinterest. I have been pinning table settings.

Clothes galore

Even zebra dogs (this is going to be Hank's Halloween costume if he is not a leopard)

What are you pinning? Are you a pinning fool?

Add Character with Paint

A quick swipe of paint to the edge of the doors adds interest without much effort.

Try painting your front door and do not forget the interior of the door.
