Decisions, decisions

So this is my entry way. Notice the black mirror. See it? Not a huge fan but right now I am in no situation to be buying new mirrors.

I had this piece of ish lying in the carport for the last 6 months.

In my manic refinish furniture crazy person mode weekend I decided to fix it up. Now what to do? Should I replace the fugly black mirror? I kind of like that everything is not white. Decisions. Decisons.

Campaign Dresser Makeover

Campaign dresser is done. It is very good looking if I do say so myself.
I used a high gloss Chinese Red.

The hardware for struggling. I got paint and then tried to get it off with a razor and it scratched the brass. I went to a local art store and found Rub n' Buff. Not only did it hide the scratches it made the hardware look new.

Hank was no help. He just hid in the bushes and practiced modeling moves.

Around the block

We have been in our house for 6 months!
In that time we have managed to murder all of the grass in our front yard. Along with every bush in the back yard. Our neighborhood is mostly ranches and splits built in the 60's. I love the neighborhood because of all the character. Only problem is a lot of the houses need updating. We bought our house from a woman in her 90's who decided to paint the whole house butter cream yellow with matching carpet. Before we bought our house we knew we wanted to paint the brick. This weekend we took a walk and I took pictures of some of my favorites to get some ideas.

Then there is our house...just waiting to be painted. One big problem. If you notice we happen to have the only tan roof ever made. Seriously, I have never seen one. I think Dot(the 90 year old former owner) not only loved butter cream carpet but ugly roofs. We have discussed painting it or putting shingles over the old shingles but it is coming down to a new roof. We are not in the situation to get a new roof just because it is ugly. We are still going to go ahead with painting the house but I am nervous about finding something that looks good with the roof.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Craigslist finds for Sick people

I am sick. It is lame. I want my mom :(
Thankfully I was not too sick to pick this up after work.
Thank you mini van woman for meeting me in the Bojangles parking lot. You rock.

Craigslist. $15. All it needs is some high gloss paint and a new sassy cushion.

Speaking of Craigslist...what is your favorite search?
Things I type everyday-
1. Lucite
2. Hollywood Regency
3. Faux bamboo (bamboo usually works better)
4. bar cart

Want vs. Need

I want some leather leggings...

I NEED Hank to stop farting. I was going to put some more options but my computer is dead ( it requires some sort of power) and Hank has decided to sit right under me.

Do you think you could pull them off? I don't know if Raleigh is really ready for them.

Favorite Pillows Under $50

When you are on a budget pillow are the quickest and most affordable way to update your house. Here are a few of my current obsessions.

{Pair of Navy Pillow Covers}

wine&design

I finally had a girl night at Wine & Design. The jist is you get a couple of girlfriends, bring a bottle of wine, and get to painting. A local artist comes and instructs the class.
Tonight the subject was a really weird pig.

Not a fan of the pig but it could be an amazing way to fill your house with art...that you painted yourself. While I am a pro at drinking wine I could probably use some more practice with the painting.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was spent trying to enjoy the last few days of summer...

followed by a wonderful wedding.

Things To Do:

Next week my goal is to...

1. Finish my campaign dresser and nightstands.
2. Gallery Wall--any good suggestions for art?

3. Take a Photography class

This is all for now... I am not going to set my goals too high. I think finishing one project would be enough for me.

Off to another wedding. Peace out.

J Crew on a Budget(sort of)

In my opinion, there is not much to choose from. Some of the ish is circa 2008. I saw at least 2 things I have from 2 years ago and I think it was cheaper when I bought it then. That being said here are some of my faves.

Life Update

I have neglected the blog. Unfortunately, my real job takes up way too much of my time lately.
Doug and I went home this weekend for some wedding planning.
We tasted food, saw our band, and Roy got to spend some outdoors.
Sometimes I miss having a place for my dogs to run and a creek for them to swim in.
Hopefully before everything is said and done Doug and I will move somewhere with a little more space.

Saturday we stayed in Blowing Rock, NC. I wish I would have taken more pictures because it was beautiful.

That is all. This weekend I am going to a wedding, the next weekend another wedding, and the weekend after that another wedding. Do not expect to hear much from me until then. My life = disaster.
